During the five years before I started Locke Marketing Public Relations in
2002, I was a part owner and the Public Relations Director for KnollGROUP,
a former full service advertising and public relations agency in Portland. I
was integrally involved in client relations while also directing the agency's
public relations activities on behalf of clients.

I learned a lot about how agencies work with clients and what clients
need from agencies. This experience helped me to develop the niche I
am now servicing. (See “Our Approach”)

Picture this. We are sitting at the Multnomah Athletic Club. I am waiting for an interview with the President of a Portland agency for an internship. He arrives.
We greet. He sits down and begins searching his briefcase for my resume.

He finds it. As he smoothes the wrinkles from what looks like a game of
trash-can basketball, I asked if he made the shot. Laughter ensues and an internship is born.
